Pick a structure, then replace every line
The speech outline templates on this page are six skeletons: Persuasive talk, Informative briefing, Toast, Product pitch, Keynote arc, and Spoken answer. Press one. The page shows the promise of that shape and the beats with a prompt under each. Copy outline puts the text on the clipboard. Download saves a .txt file built from the title, the summary, and each label with its prompt.
The speech outline templates do not fill the prompts with your stories. A downloaded file that still contains the prompts is a worksheet, not a finished talk. Replace each line with your material, then delete any beat you cannot say out loud.
Choose the occasion, not the longest outline. A status update does not need a keynote arc. A behavioral interview answer does not need a toast. The speech outline templates are short on purpose so the wrong shape is obvious.
What each template is for
Persuasive talk moves a room from a problem to one action: open, cost, recommendation, proof, close. Use it when you want a decision. The speech outline templates version of this shape asks for one ask, not a menu.
Informative briefing teaches one idea someone can retell: promise, map, part, limit, retell. The limit beat matters. Say what you will not cover so you do not improvise a second briefing. The speech outline templates put that limit in the file so you remember to say it.
Toast is who you are, story, meaning, wish, glass. Use it beside the wedding toast builder if you want prompts without an assembled paragraph. Product pitch is listener, problem, offer, difference, ask. Keynote arc is scene, turn, proof, objection, tomorrow. Spoken answer is claim, context, move, evidence, stop. That last one is the enemy of a long preamble.
Copy, download, and then leave the template
Copy outline is enough when you are pasting into notes. Download is enough when you want a file. The speech outline templates name the file from the template. Your browser saves it locally. Unprompted does not keep a copy. Refreshing the page does not delete a file you already downloaded. It does forget which template you had selected only in the sense that a new visit starts on Persuasive talk again.
After the download, work in your own document. The speech outline templates are a bad place to store the finished talk, because they do not save your replacements. If you edit only in your head, you will revert to the generic prompts under pressure.
Write the opening, the transitions, and the close in full sentences. Keep the middle as bullets unless the wording must be exact. The speech outline templates are skeletons. A full script of every beat becomes an essay you will read. That is the failure mode this page is trying to prevent.
One example per beat
Each prompt asks for one move. Give it one example, one number, or one scene. The speech outline templates become bloated when every beat gets three illustrations. If you cannot think of an example, the beat is a slogan. Cut the beat or find the example. Do not keep a heading you cannot support.
For the persuasive close, name who does the thing and by when. "We should really think about this" is not a close the template asked for. For the spoken answer, the stop beat means you do not add a second story. The speech outline templates include that line because speakers add the second story anyway.
Read the filled outline aloud and strike any beat you stumble on. A beat you cannot say is a beat the room will not hear cleanly. The speech outline templates have no recording. Use the audio recorder for that pass. Time the result if the slot is fixed. An outline that ignores the clock is how a five-minute ask becomes twelve.
Which template not to force
Do not pour a eulogy into the product pitch. Do not pour a quarterly review into the toast. Do not pour a scientific lecture into the keynote arc and then skip the objection. The speech outline templates are occasions, not a universal funnel. If none of the six match, take the closest and delete beats, or speak from the impromptu topics drill instead of pretending you needed a keynote.
The keynote arc wants an objection. If you have none, you may be describing a topic nobody doubts. Use the informative briefing. The speech outline templates are allowed to be abandoned. Picking a smaller shape is a success.
Spoken answer is not a place for your life story. Context is only what the claim needs. If the claim is understandable without the origin, skip the origin. The speech outline templates put context after the claim so you answer first.
A way to finish in one sitting
Select the template. Copy or download. Set a timer for 20 minutes in the real world, not on this page. Fill one example per beat. Read aloud. Cut one beat. The speech outline templates have done their work when the page is closed and your notes contain your words.
Tomorrow, speak from the notes without the prompts visible. If you need the prompts, you did not replace them. Open the speech outline templates again only to grab a shape you have not tried, not to reread advice you already copied.
Then, if the words are stable and the slot is real, check length. An outline does not know minutes. The speech length calculator does.
Pick the occasion, fill one example, download, leave
The speech outline templates are six structures: a persuasive talk, an informative briefing, a toast, a product pitch, a keynote arc, and a spoken answer. The selection starts on the persuasive talk and is not saved. If you leave and come back, you are on that first outline again. Copy or download the prompts as a text file. The speech outline templates do not upload the file and do not turn the prompts into a full script.
Use the spoken-answer outline for an interview, not the keynote arc. Use the toast outline only if you are not already in the wedding toast template. One example per beat is enough. If you cannot name the example, cut the beat. The speech outline templates become a junk drawer when every line gets three illustrations. Write the opening, the transitions, and the close in sentences. Leave the middle as prompts unless the wording has to be exact.
Finish in one sitting. The speech outline templates are a skeleton you take away, not a document you edit on this page. The prompt text is fixed. Your material replaces it after you copy. If the download is the thing you came for, check that the file starts with the outline's name and its one-line promise, then close the tab.
The download is plain text. Open the file and replace each prompt before you design slides. A persuasive talk wants a claim, a reason, an example, and the ask. A briefing wants the decision and the constraint. A keynote arc is the wrong choice for a five-minute update. The spoken-answer outline is the one that matches the interview timer. Copy that one, fill the action, and leave the rest for a different day. This page is not a script generator. If a beat is still a bracket after you copy, that is the hole. Fill it or delete the beat.
Questions
Should I write the full script?
Write the opening, the transitions, and the close. Keep the middle as bullets unless the wording has to be exact. The speech outline templates are the skeleton, not the essay.
How do I get the file?
Press Download. You get a text file with the title, the summary, and each beat. Copy outline does the same text onto the clipboard. The speech outline templates do not email it.
Which template is for an interview?
Spoken answer. Claim, context, move, evidence, stop. For a timed STAR rehearsal, use the interview answer timer after the beats exist. The speech outline templates do not run that clock.
Can I edit the prompts on the page?
You choose a template and take the text away. The speech outline templates do not save your rewritten beats in the browser.
Are these the only ways to organize a talk?
No. They are six occasions this site will help you start. Delete beats that do not fit. Do not add beats until you can say the ones you have.
Is the download private?
It stays on your machine. The speech outline templates do not upload the file. The prompts in the file are generic until you replace them.
